Ohio – All Hail the Buckeyes!
Ohio’s governor, John R. Kasich, issued a state proclamation, establishing October 2012 as “Information Literacy Month”. The Ohio initiative was led by Beverly Cain, State Librarian of Ohio and her Working Together to Support Ohio’s Libraries Task Force, along with the assistance of Theresa M. Fredericka, Executive Director of INFOhio.
Governor Kasich’s proclamation captures the powerful simplicity of this critical, 21st century educational and workforce development skill set:
“…people who are information literate have the skills to find, evaluate, and use information from multiple sources; comprehend increasing amounts of information; and master evolving technologies while collaborating and communicating with a wide variety of audiences…”
