Maryland’s Information Literacy Awareness Proclamation

Comments Off

National Forum on Information Literacy (NFIL) Board Members and native Marylanders, A. Christy Wright, Adjunct Professor, of Prince George’s Community College and Frank Gallagher, Executive Director of Cable in the Classroom, led the initiative.

The heart of the Maryland Proclamation reads as follows:

“Information Literacy empowers learners and workers to become informed decision makers by utilizing diverse methods and strategies to find, evaluate, assess, and use effectively information from a variety of sources.  These are, in effect, the lifelong learning skills needed by all people to live responsibly and to work efficiently in today’s information society…”

Thanks, Christy, Frank, Governor O’Malley, and the citizens of the state of Maryland!
