Maine Joins the Proclamation Campaign!

Maine proclaims October, 2012 as Information Literacy Month.

“Information is the key to success in the 21st century and beyond…the economic and personal success of the people of the state of Maine depends on their abilities to think independently, solve problems, and continue to learn and grow in a globally connected environment…” stated in the information literacy proclamation issued by Maine’s governor, Paul R. LePage.

The Maine proclamation campaign was led by Jim Bird, Science and Engineering Center, Fogler Library, University of Maine, Orono (contact person) Sofia Birden, Associate Director, Library, University of Maine at Fort Kent Angelynn King, Library Director, University of Maine at Machias Linda Lord, State Librarian, Maine State Library, Augusta Judy Montgomery, Acting Librarian, Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Frank Roberts, Library Director, University of Maine at Farmington.
