Illinois – The Land of Lincoln is on Board!!
Illinois is the 5th state to issue a gubernatorial proclamation declaring October as Information Literacy Awareness Month! Dane Ward, Interim Dean of the University Libraries at Illinois State University, led the successful effort.
Governor Pat Quinn recognizes its importance by stating in the proclamation that “…information literacy represents an important workforce need in Illinois that facilitates personal and organizational productivity; and, the teaching of information literacy in our colleges, universities, and communities contributes to the general and collective welfare of the citizens of Illinois.” Many across the Illinois library community supported the state initiative.
Congratulations, Illinois!Illinois Proclamation, 2012
