Dr. Penny Beile
Dr. Penny Beile is Associate Director for Information Services and Scholarly Communication at the University of Central Florida Libraries. She has been department head and faculty member at LSU Libraries, Miami University Libraries, and University of South Florida School of Library and Information Science. Dr. Beile is past chair of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Education and Behavioral Sciences Section, and was the recipient of the 2010 EBSS Distinguished Librarian Award. She sits on the board of the Journal of Information Fluency and UCF’s Undergraduate Research Journal.
Dr. Beile earned her MLS and MEd from the University of Kentucky and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Central Florida. Her dissertation work focused on developing and validating an information literacy test for education and was supported in part by a Project SAILS-awarded fellowship funded by the Institute for Library and Information Literacy Education (ILILE). Dr. Beile’s research interests generally focus on some aspect of information literacy and its assessment.
