Dr. Lana W. Jackman, President
Dr. Lana W. Jackman is currently the President of the National Forum and the principal and founder of Mélange Information Services, Inc., a workforce development consultant firm based in Cambridge, MA. 02138. Jackman provides a variety of workforce, research, and grant development services to non-profit and for-profit organizations and businesses.
Previously, Jackman served in a variety of administrative positions in higher education including associate dean of enrollment services, director of student financial aid, and senior academic program officer. She has provided advising and counseling services to undergraduate and graduate students, from traditional age to adult learners. In addition, she served as adjunct faculty in the University’s Freshmen Year Seminar program and taught social studies to pre-service and in-service teachers at Lesley University’s School of Education. Because of her extensive experience at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Lesley University, and Simmons College, she is a leader who is knowledgeable about K-16 college to career transition issues.
In her work with the National Forum on Information Literacy and with community organizations, Dr. Jackman demonstrates that she is committed to the development of policy and programs supporting the advancement of economic and educational opportunity for underserved populations in the U.S. In addition, she works closely with collaborators on a statewide, national, and international level to promote the empowerment of individuals and communities through information, technology, health, and media literacy. Dr. Jackman earned her doctorate in educational studies from Lesley University, an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a B.A. in Politics from University of Massachusetts at Boston. Her research interests focus on information literacy, outcomes-based assessment, user education, community based participatory research, charter schools, health literacy, and evidence-based decision making.
